Topic: New Books
Miyana is the first of a series of books which center on the lives of students attending a small, liberal arts college in the state of Michigan in the United States.
Miyana is in essence a love story, a Romance and contemplation of young, modern women abroad. The protagonists, Tony and Miyana, are from America and India respectively. The series investigates further what studying abroad is like. What it is like to feel like an immigrant and not feel like an immigrant simultaneously since an identifiable global culture is taking shape.
Miyana is at times a profound and allegorical philosophical proposition, and at other times, a reflection of American culture and of the culture of consumerism and sexual identity exported around the world, at its most obsessive, decadent, and explicit.
Miyana and the books in the series challenges its readers on every page with stimulating prose, authentic insight, life-affirming compassion, and fascinating stories.
Read as the students mature, effect relationships, decipher the co-ed, collegiate experience during times of war and suffering, and make lifelong compromises within and among themselves.
Miyana is a fun read, compulsory for anybody fascinated by the evolution of youth culture in free societies. Check out Miyana Books
